Rhonda Curtis WS9H: IRCC 2011 Outstanding Amateur of the Year

The 2011 Indiana Radio Club Council (IRCC) Outstanding Amateur of the Year is Rhonda Curtis WS9H from Indianapolis.

Rhonda took over the VE testing for the Indianapolis Radio Club and then the Mid-State ARC when VEs for both organizations either became Silent Keys or had health issues.

She handles the Marion County ARES Net on the 146.70 repeater in Indianapolis and has assumed the position of Marion County ARES Emergency Coordinator. Rhonda is constantly recruiting new hams, especially women.

She coordinates the monthly dinner for Amateur Radio operators which is a great way to meet and greet new people.

Rhonda helped in the restoration of the USS Indianapolis memorial and helps train new operators in the use of HF equipment for the W9IMS special events station.

Rhonda and her husband, Steve ND9C, have become a valuable asset for Amateur Radio in Central Indiana.
