  • 500 Festival Mini Marathon
    Sat 05-05 7:30am - 2:00pm

    2012 marks the 36th running of the 500 Festival Mini Marathon. This is the largest half-marathon in the U.S. and the 7th overall largest running event in America.

    It has sold out for the past 9 years with 35,000 registrants and an additional 4,000 participants in the 5K run.

  • Geist Half-Marathon

    This 13.1m "Race Around the Reservoir" is a great event to work to hone your skills as an Emergency Communicator.

  • Hoosier Hikers "Run with the Foxes" (Morgan County event)

    The Morgan County hams support the Hoosier Hikers in this 13.1m event that runs through the Morgan-Monroe State Forest.

  • 500 Festival Parade
    Sat 05-26 11:30am - 2:30pm

    The 2012 Parade marks its 55 year. More than 300,000 spectators will watch the 1.75m parade as it goes around the downtown Indy streets.

  • American Diabetes Association Tour-de-Cure
    Sat 06-09 7:30am - 12:30pm

    Hams support this event as emergency communicators mostly outside the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This event has a 100 mile ride that stays inside the track, but offers a 50 mile and 75 mile road course, which is where the hams come in handy.

  • Park2Park Relay (Hendricks County Event)
    Sat 06-16 7:00am - 4:00pm

    2011 was the inaugural event. For 2012, the relay will run the opposite direction! Organizers are expecting many more teams than last year as this is a 6-person team ~ 60 mile running event.

    Held in Hendricks County, hams will be used around the course at exchange points, rest stops and at other locations.

  • N.I.T.E. (Navigate Indy This Evening) Bike Ride
    Sat 06-23 9:00pm - Sun 06-24 2:00am

    This event is unique as it is a bicycle ride that does not begin until 11PM. Riders wind their way along downtown streets passing the Indiana Statehouse, Monument Circle, Butler University, Indianapolis Art Museum winding its way along the White River to the IUPUI Campus on New York Street.

  • Red Eye Relay (Monroe County event)
    Sat 07-21 2:00pm - Sun 07-22 5:30pm

    The dates of July 21-22, 2012 are Tentative as of Oct 2, 2011.

    This is a 'running relay race'; teams of 4 or more will run 100 miles changing runners at 21 different exchange points. This 100 miles has to be covered in 24 hours!

    This event goes from about 2PM on Saturday ending about 530PM on Sunday. Shifts are worked due to the length of the event.

  • 2012 Indy Air Race
    Sat 08-11 10:00am - 4:00pm

    The 2011 Indy Air Race is over and planning has begun for 2012.
    The Race Routes are still being planned.

    Mike Palmer, N9FEB, is taking checkins of interested amateur radio operators who are willing to act as observers. Exact details of what is involved are being discussed.

  • Multiple Sclerosis Bike Ride
    Sat 09-08 7:30am - Sun 09-09 3:30pm

    This is a 2-day bicycling event. Each day, riders have a choice of riding 30 - 50 - 75 or 100 Miles on the country roads Hamilton, Boone, Tipton, and Clinton Counties.

    There are several Rest Stops and hazardous road crossings that hams assist at. This event utilizes many hams equipment with APRS so the Net Controls can track the lead and tail riders of each route. This info is relayed to Law Enforcement for traffic control purposes.

  • Indianapolis (Lawrence) Marathon
    Sat 10-20 6:00am - 3:00pm

    This is the 17th Annual Indianapolis Marathon held in Lawrence, IN, old Ft. Harrison area.
    It is a 26.2 mile marathon that also hosts a 13.1 mile portion and a 5K/Run-Walk as well.

  • The Hilly Hundred ( Amateur Radio sponsored by the Bloomington Amateur Radio Club)
    Sat 10-20 7:00am - Sun 10-21 5:00pm

    The 45th annual Hilly Hundred will be held October 20-21, 2012, in scenic Monroe, Morgan, Owen, and Greene Counties. The event is sponsored by Central Indiana Bicycling Association (CIBA).

    The riders will take on the hills riding about 50 miles each day, returning to Ellettsville where the Start - Finish Line is.

  • Indianapolis Monumental Marathon
    Sat 11-03 7:30am

    Full 26.2 mile marathon starting and ending in downtown Indianapolis.
