Welcome to 2023's East Central Indiana Hamfest! We are excited to be returning for our fifth year, four as a hamfest along with our first in 2019 as a tailgater originally started by the Randolph County Radio Club. We are now incorporated by Indiana as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization.
Location: This year, our event will once again be held in East Central Indiana at the Randolph County Fairgrounds, located at 1885 South US 27 in Winchester, Indiana, about 2 miles south of the WalMart Supercenter. Our biggest advantage is that we are centrally located between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis, plus are within easy driving distance of places like Muncie, Dayton, Columbus, and Cincinnati. Plus, we're really easy to find!
Prizes: As usual, we have had have a LOT of door prizes both donated by our local or distant sponsors, and some more higher-end prizes purchased by the ECI Hamfest from proceeds from the prior year's door prize ticket sales and your generous donations. We're also again planning on at least one fox hunt, but have typically had two. Prizes for the winners, as well. You'll see our sponsor list at the event.
Food and Drink: We recognize 4H Shooting Sports for being the sole provider for food and drinks at our event. Last year they prepared three pigs and a good meal could be had at a VERY good price. Plus, it helps the local 4H club.
Activities: We have many activities planned for this year, and we look forward to having you join us, either as a volunteer, vendor, or guest. We're planning one forum this year covering Parks on the Air (POTA). It's our first and we will be planning more in the future. In 2022, we had two fox hunts, both with great prized for the winners. We're planning on doing that again in 2023. Also, since 2020, we've been holding TWO testing sessions for new amateur licensees and upgrades. Our plans at this time will be to hold one at 10 AM and another at 1 PM. For updated information, click here. We also regularly see the local Scout troup at one of the vendor tables each year and it's great to be able to introduce the young folks to the fascinating hobby that is Amateur Radio!
Vendors: If you are interested in being a vendor at our event this year, we now have a Vendor Request Form. We are asking that if it's at all possible, that you use this form to request space. If it's not convenient or possible, you can call Dave at the phone number listed on the vendor request page.
Volunteers: For our local clubs, members from our committee have been coming to your meetings lately to talk about the hamfest. We can not make this event happen without your help! Donations are always appreciated, and we are always looking for more volunteers to help make our event the success that it has been. If you have any questions, please let us know!
FREE? How is that possible? We have an anonymous donor that pays for the the rental costs of two buildings and the parking/tailgater area. We can't reveal who this is and even most of the board members don't know. But we're really appreciative of that person and it's made the free parking, admission, and vendor spaces possible. It's how we differ from other Hamfests and we hope to be able to do it this way for a long time to come!
We are excited to have you join us in 2023 for the East Central Indiana Hamfest!
